Before The Sart?

GARRY WINOGRAND

Captured New York street style in the 60s

This next photo is not Winogrand but I LOVE IT! - If the Sartorialist was born a few decades earlier this would be his work:

THOMY mcTHOM THOM THOM mcTHOM THOM THOMY

Tailor Thom has a knack for creating wild, mind blowing shows which let you leave (yes, I like to assume attendance) feeling slightly perturbed and wondering, 'Thom, is it still a man's world? Because it seems like you've given up on that notion... and now you're just poking fun at women's empowerment and men's supposed helplessness... ARE YOU?'

And at his first European performance, he went against all conventions yet again, to produce a spectacle that no other designer could possibly rival let-alone pull off.

Taking place during the Pitti Uomo Menswear shows in Florence(January 2009), in a grand and barely untouched hall built in 1938, with the notions of masculinity, repetition and simplicity. He encapsulates an energy or a 'pent-up masculinity' as Suzy Menkes describes it, that will leave you breathless.

BROWNE AT ITS BEST.
IF you haven't already seen this, then watch it, because it is GENIUS.

NEW BALMAIN CAMPAIGN

WHILE I MAY BE SKEPTICAL OF THE BRILLIANCE OF CHRISTOPHE DECARNIN, I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND OF THE GLORY THAT IS ANJA RUBIK

THE NEW BALMAIN CAMPAIGN
(GRACIAS TOMMY TON OF JAK AND JIL WHO PREVIEWED THIS)
SHOT BY INEZ VAN LAMSWEERDE AND VINDOOH MATADIN (THE BEST!)

DEFINITELY PREFER IT TO LAST SEASON'S OF DARIA, WHICH TO BE HONEST, WAS A BIT BORING AND TACKY

A PARISIAN SIDEWALK

THIS IS A PHOTO I TOOK OF THE MAN TRAFFIC WHILST STROLLING THE STREETS OF PARIS.
God the guys are hot.

Ok, this is actually a snap from the Rick Owens Spring 2010 Menswear show.

I am aware that this post has no point...
But neither does gazing at a selection of well - styled models.

Keep those shoulders back and heads held high.

VIVE LA FRANCHE!

UNDERCOVER BROTHER

AS WELL AS MAKING BEAUTIFUL, ETHEREAL PIECES OF CLOTHING, SUCH AS THIS:

JUN TAKAHASHI, DESIGNER FOR JAPANESE LABEL, UNDERCOVER, HAS ANOTHER PASSION, DOLL MAKING.

WHILE IN FLORENCE FOR HIS MENSWEAR AW09/10 SHOW AT THE PITTI LAST MONTH, TAKAHASHI'S TEAM GAVE A LIVE DOLL MAKING PERFORMANCE:

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE OF THE PERFORMANCES CONDUCTED IN HIROSHIMA

www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZpjujGmVdE

TAKAHASHI HAS CREATED THESE DOLLS, KNOWN AS GRACES, WITH STORIES AND PERSONALTIES. ALONG WITH PHOTOGRAPHER KATSUHIDE MORIMOTO, TAKAHASHI PHOTOGRAPHED THE GRACES IN THEIR ROLE AS ALIENS AMONG HUMANS.

THESE BIZARRE, FLUFFY CYCLOPS ARE CHARACTERISED AS SOMEWHAT HOSTILE CREATURES, WHO TEND TO AVOID CONTACT WITH HUMANS, BUT ARE BELIEVED TO BE HARMLESS. MANY COMPARISONS SEEM TO BE DRAWN BETWEEN TAKAHASHI'S GRACES AND THE CREATURES DEPCITED IN 'CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND'.
